Guild Meeting: Hand Plane Restoration Part 1

This meeting will be the beginning of a multi-part series on restoring hand planes. There are lots of methods and I will share a few options for the many different planes you may find in the 'wild'. This first session will primarily cover deciding whether a used plane is worth restoring and if so what steps need to be taken to evaluate the effort. We will look at some examples and talk about how to evaluate overall condition, spot common problems, and separate cosmetic issues from those that affect how the tool works. TIme will determine how much we can cover of the 40 step process I use to restore old planes in this first session.
