We’ll be working on the railroad…

A Volunteer Opportunity for all woodworking skill levels

The Southeastern Railway Museum has asked the Guild to help with some minor restoration work and display case builds.  Join fellow Guild members for this Community Service opportunity.  Future builds could include the restoration of historic rail cars, but we will begin with a few immediate museum needs noted below.

We envision some on-site group builds and opportunities for independent components you can work on in your own shop and on your own schedule.   Click on the buttons below to connect with the project lead or to sign up for an informational meeting to learn more about this project.

Repair of depot benches: Historic lobby benches need new plywood tops and some refinishing. Seeking a few volunteers to work under the direction of Guild board member and finishing expert Ken Gregg to restore these original Atlanta Rail Depot benches for continued use at the Museum.

New Display Cases: Additional informational display cases are needed.  Guild members will copy or make functionally similar cases to those in use at Southeastern Railway Museum.
